What is Tandoor-nan?

 

    Tandoor nan, cakes and bread from tandoor (tonur nan, tondir non) - the traditional bread of the
Central Asian peoples (the Uighurs, Uzbeks, Tajiks) in the form of pellets, cooked in a traditional
oven - tandoor.
    The usual composition of bread is wheat flour, yeast, water, sour cream (kaymaq),
margarine, sesame seeds, poppy.
    It is usually eaten separately and with different dishes (pilaf, shish kebab, shurpa, etc.),
the Uighurs often eat hot tandoor nan with traditional atkyanchaem drink in the morning
it is also used as a sandwich (with cheese, sausage, butter, honey, etc.).
    There are many types of tandoor nan, depending on the method of preparation, composition;
every nation has its own traditions and recipes.
    Several kinds of Uighur cakes are available on the market of Alma-Ata city.
